I have to write a report for Japanese Linguistics (JL) class. There are several topics at the report. The one of the topics is about the vowel system in Japanese. And then I have to compare the vowel system with another language.

I'm still thinking which language I compare. I’ve thought I would write about Korean. But I have no good reference materials and the vowel system in Korean is too complicated to write in a few letters. So I will write about Russian or German. German has a unique vowel system like the synthetic vowel and umlaut. I think it is interesting. It is easy to write the vowel system in Russian, as there are only 6 vowels. If I have much time, I will write about German. If I have no time, I will write about Russian.
